Guadalupe is alive with art

By Jade Arroyo

Colonia  Guadalupe is located just outside the historic center. This vibrant neighborhood is becoming enlivened with art and innovation.

Some of the finest artists in town call this colonia home and their ateliers are located there: Flor Acosta, Ana Thiel, Irene Stauffer, Chris Weathers, Joy Wesson, Karen Wight, Colleen Sorenson, Linda Post, Lena Bartula, Sam Seaman and Victoria Pierce.

Last Sunday, June 2, the first Guadalupe Art Walk took place. All of the resident artists kindly opened their doors to the public, showcasing their galleries and new works and people got the chance to see the creative spaces “where the magic happens.”

This was a fun Sunday afternoon, filled with stimulating talk and laughter. While walking around, you could see the amazing outdoor murals painted to promote urban art. Besides the art studios, there are some nice restaurants and coffee shops that offered refreshments or lunch to the visitors.
