On Monday May 20 at 11:36am an explosion was registered in a house in colonia Independencia.
The case was reported to the emergency corporations, which were alerted of a second explosion during their way to the site. The director of the Civil Protection Department, Felipe Cohen, said that when they arrived to the house they found some tools for working with fireworks, so they deducted that the explosion was due to gunpowder storage.
The owner of the house, who arrived 30 minutes after the detonation, informed to the corporations that there were no members of the family in the house. The owner was arrested by the PGR (Federal Attorney’s Office) because storing gunpowder in a house is a federal crime. Later, the local authorities reported that 30 kilos of gunpowder were found in the house.
