Tradition has it that Siddhartha Gautama (otherwise known as the Buddha) was born during the full moon in May, and over the years this day has been set aside to honor his birth, enlightenment and death.
Buddha means the enlightened one, and the belief is that there is a new Buddha for each age, and that Siddhartha Gautama is the one for this age. It is thought that Siddhartha Gautama was born in the sixth century to a royal Hindu family, and that it was his exposure to the suffering of the world that led him to the discovery of the four noble truths all relating to the causes of suffering and dissatisfaction and how to live to eliminate them from one’s life.
We cannot promise you the answer (as much as we would like to), but we can offer you the opportunity to relax in the country and spend a day quietly by the pool, enjoying a vegetarian feast, and joining, if you like, in a guided meditation as the day comes to a close. We invite you to come out to Shanti, walk in the countryside, read, swim, rest…. have a lovely meal, and join us as the sun sinks and we share a guided meditation led by Carolyn McKnight, from Portland Oregon, who holds a PhD in mythological studies/depth psychology and is an experienced leader of guided meditation.
The cost for this event is 275 pesos, and free transportation is available. Call 415-100-8396, or email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
