City “heartily” recognizes artists

By Jade Arroyo

To wrap up the cultural festival “San Miguel Arte” a ceremony was held to recognize some outstanding people from the art world. This event took place at the gallery Fernando M. Díaz inside the art and design center Fábrica La Aurora. From María José Garrido, head of the Economic and Touristic Development and International Relations Department, Saul Kaminer (painter), Leonardo Nierman (plastic artist), Bertha Schwarcstein (gallerist), Raúl Renán (writer), Héctor Carreto (poet), Vladimir Cora (painter) and Iván Sánchezblas (editor of AAD magazine) received a heart-shape award, which acknowledges their cultural work and symbolizes the “heart of San Miguel.” The awardees were invited to continue adding to the city’s cultural scene by creating new initiatives and proposals.

The ceremony and cocktail reception took place April 26 and was attended by many art lovers as well as representatives from the local government. Afterwards, attendees walked through the new art district in Colonia Guadalupe, where an open-air exhibit was held.
