101 children artists at the Consejo Turístico

By Karina Marquez

As part of the activities of the Festival San Miguel Arte,  the exhibition “101 children artists”, opened in rooms 1 and 2 of the Tourist Council, with paintings by children from the Children’s Art Foundation of San Miguel, CAF, led by local artist Hannah Jarmain, which encourages children to express themselves through art.

For children who love art, this exhibition aims to promote the artistic skills of the youths of San Miguel. Founded in 2010, the CAF began with an art contest citywide for children between 5 and 12 years old. This practice is now an annual tradition. Every April after Easter, hundreds of children from local schools, public and private, in the city and in the country are invited to participate, with over a thousand paintings available for these potential artists.

CAF publishes an annual book entitled “Creative Children,” which features the works of art and the stories that exemplify the creativity of children, who, in some cases, never intended to touch a pencil or brush to express themselves.

The exhibition “101 children artists”, will be available throughout the month of April; admission is free.
