The national funds collection of the Mexican Red Cross started on March 15 and will last until April 14. The local Red Cross in San Miguel de Allende has already joined the collection. According to Rosalba Rangel, its president, their goal is to collect 300,000 pesos.

The San Miguel local Red Cross covers around 450 monthly services from which 95 percent are completely free and only 5 percent has a recovering fee for expenses such as programmed transfers, external training and special events. The local Red Cross staff includes 11 people, who worked divided in two groups, who work 24 hours each and rest 48. They have service during 24 hours, 365 days a year.  Their monthly expenses are around 130,000. For tax deductible donations, contact Gustavo Rodríguez, at the Red Cross facilities, on Libramiento Manuel Zavala 117, Fraccionamiento Las Brisas, tel. 152 4225.
