Love of nature at Camino Silvestre

By Jade Arroyo

The store Camino Silvestre Casa, located at Correo 43, hosted a special concert for Valentine’s Day. This event was conceived to benefit the Charco del Ingenio nature reserve and the Audubon de México society, which received all the proceeds from ticket sales. Members of both organizations were present at the event, offering and renewing memberships. Everyone who bought or renewed a membership received a complimentary hummingbird feeder from Camino Silvestre. The show featured a trio of excellent musicians: Jimena Giménez Cacho, Gil Gutiérres playing guitar and Camille García playing the accordion. The musicians played a wide repertoire, from Piazolla to Bach to classic Mexican love songs. The owners of Camino Silvestre, Jim and Alfredo, expressed how happy they were to be able to support the ecosystem of San Miguel and also announced the upcoming first International Hummingbird Festival, to be held in September, which will include conferences, workshops and other events all related to hummingbirds. All proceeds from this festival will go to El Charco del Ingenio and Sociedad Audubon de México.
