Works by Beverly Moor at Galería SmallWorks

By Jim Corcoran

Beverly Moor is the little lady with the big personality. Anyone who has encountered her stepping out after dark has seen her inimitable style. Reminiscent of Talitha Getty in the 1960s, Moor has a wonderful sense of Bohemian chic.

I recently ran into her at the La Aurora anniversary party where she was wrapped in the most beautiful shawl. It was art of a type that works as clothing and executed in the most exquisite fabrics. When I inquired where she had come by it, she replied that she had designed it herself. The story goes that on her many travels to exotic lands, the first stop is always the souks or markets bargaining for the most precious fabrics available. She totes or ships them home to San Miguel de Allende and then sets about designing these wonderful pieces. Although we refer to them as shawls, they would work equally well hung flat on a wall as a contemporary tapestry or as a throw on a favorite chair or bed. Needless to say, no two are the same, but each piece is an individual work of art.

Beverly Moor’s shawls are available in San Miguel exclusively at Galeria SmallWorks.
