Muros en Blanco-Urban Street Art
By Atención Staff
Muros en Blanco is an urban street art project modeled after various other street art projects in cities such as Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires, Miami, Mexico City, New York. It is being presented by JovenES Expresión, a program by Instituto Municipal de la Juventud.
The mission of this project is to discourage taggers from defacing public and private property through education, and directing young artists’ energies into legal artistic efforts, to create the colonia Guadalupe Arts District by working with our local artists as well as visiting Latin American artists.
On February 16, the first youth forum took place at Parque Clouthier, as part of this program. It included a graffiti contest and space for skateboarding and break dancers. It was an event for the entire family to enjoy.
The first walls will be started in early March with a kickoff street art event on March 23. For more information contact Colleen Sorenson, firstname.lastname@example.org.
