American woman murdered in San Miguel

By Antonio De Jesús Aguado

Joyous Heart (Joyce Schuman), a Los Angeles native who lived in San Miguel de Allende for 12 years, was found murdered in her home on February 1. She had resided approximately eight years in the neighborhood of Santa Teresita de Don Diego in the country. Heart devoted time to volunteering for Casa Hogar Santa Julia and rented out apartments next to her house.

On Friday, February 1, a 066 emergency system operator received a call that her body had been discovered in her home. District Attorney Miguel Ángel Rangel Zendejas said that robbery was apparently not a motive and that the victim had been killed with some type of blade or sharp object. The case is still under investigation, and at this time no one has been arrested for the crime.
