Find Valentine’s Day love at the SPA
By Irene Diamant
Celebrate Valentine’s Day by surrounding yourself with agape, the Greek term for the purest form of love, unconditional, selfless, and passionately committed to the well-being of another, exactly the type of love you receive from and give to a dog. That’s one reason we love dogs; they love us back unconditionally. A biscuit and affection (rather than a Hallmark card) can seal the deal. Our two species have always thrived in each other’s company and enjoy an enhanced quality of life as a result.
If one dog is good for you, two are even better because:
•No guilt when you leave the house. They’re not lonely; they have each other. This also helps eliminate canine boredom and the resultant mischief.
•Entertainment! It is fun (in blazing neon lights) watching them play together. It’s also excellent exercise for them and you, too, when you join in.
•Friendly competition for your attention. It’s nice to be the center of their world.
Consider the following dynamic duos:
•Cappy and Zeke: These male black beauties get along swimmingly. They’re still babies -Cappy, seven months, Zeke, nine months — small, but growing. They already know how to share, taking turns when waiting for treats. Energetic and playful, they love each other and have plenty of love for you.
•Rita and Jessie: These two-year-old small/medium sisters with very different personalities have a ball with each other. Rita wants to sit on your lap. Jessie vies for attention, but then zooms off to find out where the action is. Rita happily joins her in the fun.
•Cassie and Nacho: A little over a year old, these buddies keep each other entertained and absorb love. Nacho is small/medium sized and Cassie is a little bigger. They are affectionate, super-sweet, devoted to each other and would be devoted to you.
•Kara and Kelly: Eager for space to run, these girls would love to exercise with you. They are young (a little over a year old) and frisky (one taunting the other for a chase fest), but are quick to come back and cuddle.
We have more couples who do well together, such as Frida and Cristal, Lady and Tramp, Fiona and Tigresa, Negrito and Rascalita, and more. Preview them and others at www.spasanmiguel.org and www.facebook.com/spasanmiguel. Become enchanted at the S.P.A., Monday-Saturday, 11am-2pm, Los Pinos 7, phone 152-6124. Happy Valentine’s Day!
