Laborice was born in Puebla, where he studied theater at the Instituto Cinematografica Andrés Soler and dance with Ana Merida, Hugo Romero and Leon Escobar until 1961. He studied fine art in Mexico City.
As a restorer with the National Institute of Fine Arts he participated in the restoration of Diego Rivera murals on the staircase of the Palacio Nacional, at the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Public Education, as well as murals by Siqueiros, Orozco, Montenegro, Saturnino Herrán, Javier Guerrero, O’Higgins and others.
His work “Requiem de Mozart” has been selected as the poster for the 27th San Miguel Chamber Music Festival, the exhibit “Reencuentro,” with his art and poems by his father, has been shown at Bellas Artes in San Miguel, and Casa del Diezmo in Celaya recently held a homage to the artist.
Laborice incorporates into his work a profound and deeply felt knowledge of music, dance and color and, above all, the sentiment and symbolism of an artist both transparent and complex.
