Annual book sale at La Biblioteca
By Jade Arroyo
Take note, book lovers, because the entrancing aroma of old books will be in the air this Saturday, January 26, from 10am to 1pm when La Biblioteca holds a special once-a-year book sale. Ninety percent of the books are in English, so now is the chance for English-speaking readers to bargainhunt for tempting tomes.
You can take your choice among a large variety of subjects, such as cookbooks (one of the best sellers), sewing and embroidery, music, painting and other art disciplines, American Indian culture, and many other interesting topics. You can find a lot of great coffee-table books, ideal to dress up your living room and entertain your friends and guests. The price range fits all budgets, from five to 200 pesos, and all the money raised will go toward the purchase of new books. Some of the copies are a little dated, or are not in good enough shape to be part of the Biblioteca’s collection. Nevertheless, nothing can take away their charm. This sale will also feature vinyl records (most of them in pretty good shape), mostly opera, jazz and classical music. The sale will be held in la Biblioteca’s patio. Everyone is welcome to poke around to seek a treasure.
