Join Mujeres en Cambio on Thursday, January 24, from 2-4pm for a traditional rancho lunch prepared by our guest chefs, the Las Rancheritas rug hookers. Mingle with friends and meet the creative and talented women of Augustín Gonzáles. The rugs until now were available only at Mujeres luncheons in San Miguel, online and at the Instituto Arts and Crafts Fairs.
Celebrate a dream come true that began in 2011 when the cooperative was offered a wonderful opportunity. The community of Augustin Gonzales gave the women an abandoned building for their rug-hooking store. Mujeres en Cambio helped fund the building’s remodeling. The womens’ husbands did the remodeling and the women themselves contributed US$900 from their sales. Other San Miguel residents also contributed funds. The result is a beautiful peach building decorated with colorful flowers and birds, perched on a hill just outside the village of Augustin Gonzales. The large, well-lit building provides ample room for displaying their work and other local crafts. A covered patio provides shade for outdoor activities and a restroom is available.
Tickets (150 pesos) for the grand opening luncheon must be purchased in advance at La Conexion (Aldama 3 and Monet Cafe) or Solutions (Mesones 57). Carpools will be available from St. Paul’s Church at 1:30. Additional information and directions to the village located south of San Miguel on the way to the pyramids can be found on our website: www.mujeresencambio.org.
Join us January 24 and celebrate a year of new beginnings with the hardworking Rancheritas. Your participation is an investment in their dream.
