Concert and dinner benefit Red Cross San Miguel de Allende
By Rosalba Rangel Bautista
On December 5, the Red Cross San Miguel de Allende ended its 2012 fundraising activities with a concert by the Mexican Camerata at Hotel Imperio de Los Angeles. The varied program included arias by Verdi, Bizet, Puccini and Franz Lehar, zarzuelas, operettas and popular Mexican music by composers such as Esparza Oteo, among others. The program concluded with a selection of Christmas carols sung by soprano Angelina Rojas and tenor Mario Hoyos, accompanied by an ensemble of violinist Vladimir Tokarev, cellist Valentin L. Mirkov and pianist Jasmine Sandragorsian, presented by Lourdes Díaz Gómez.
As guests enjoyed the music, food and wine, Mayor Mauricio Trejo offered a few words, expressing his support for the Red Cross so that all the people of San Miguel de Allende may have a constantly improving emergency service.
Proceeds from this event will go toward the expansion of the doctor’s office at the Red Cross building. Among the projects already finished, there are three newly opened warehouses for file storage as well as new equipment and materials used in ambulances and in the doctor’s office.
The Red Cross is there for all of us. In 2013, we must support this institution and remember that no one is so poor that they cannot help, or so rich that they do not need it.
