Benefit for Casa de los Ángeles

By Harriet Zucker

Have you heard about the local nonprofit, Casa de los Ángeles? Casa de los Ángeles, founded in 2000, is a free daycare and safe haven for the children of single mothers who come from the outskirts of town to work, to sell their wares at the mercado or clean houses in San Miguel. Before the center was established these children were often left at home alone. Casa de los Ángeles has evolved into a community center where mothers find the support they need to create a better life for their families. Besides childcare, these families receive medical attention, scholarship opportunities, transitional housing, and a food bank as we form relationships that respect the dignity of each individual.
