Celebrating the New Year: January Pets of the Month
By Lynn Weisberg and Joan DiPiero
Ring in the new year by adopting one of our Pets of the Month! How about Sassy or Audrey, both pretty black and white girls about two years old? Each has been at the SPA since they were kittens. Audrey was probably overlooked as a baby because she was very timid. She is definitely a late bloomer. Now transformed into a confident affectionate cat, she finally realizes that being petted is much more fun than sitting alone in a corner cubby.
Sassy is a different story. Named perfectly after her spunkiness as a kitten, Sassy, for some unknown reason, hasn’t been swept off her paws into a forever home. She is both personable and sweet. Unfortunately some of our nicest cats just seem to go unnoticed. Hopefully, these cats will find someone who will realize just how special they are.
Or what about Michelle or Susie to celebrate the new year? Susie, a medium-large, golden-colored, mixed-breed dog has been at the SPA since April, 2011, giving birth to nine puppies the night she arrived. She is very smart, extremely affectionate, and eager to be out of a cage. Since she can climb up most open-work fences, she always needs to be let out into the area we have that has smooth walls. Since this is the area we let the smallest dogs play in, she has become something of the mother dog of her play group. She would do best in a place with lots of outdoor space for her to explore.
Michelle is a striking-looking, medium-large dog with a dark brindle coat. She has been with us since arriving as a puppy in April, 2012. She is funny, friendly, strong, loyal, and would make a terrific companion to the right person or family. She loves exploring the world around her, and needs a good amount of exercise; you’ll be amply rewarded with kisses and loyalty forever.
