To spend a Perfect Day
By Jade Arroyo
How to spend a perfect day in San Miguel, getting to know and enjoy different parts of the town.
Café Santa Ana, Relox 50ª, 152-7305
For book lovers who like to start their day with good strong coffee, this cafe is a fine choice. And for those who would rather have a latte, this café is a nice choice too. The café is walled with old grey stone and has a little inside patio to sit in the sun. The muffins and cakes are baked freshly every morning and there are also tasty Mexican and international breakfast options. On Fridays, they offer a special combo of breakfast and the Atención newspaper.
Ablu, Cuna de Allende 15ª, 152-5870
When you walk by this store, the perfumed smell that comes from within is irresistible. It offers totally natural bath, body care and cosmetics made locally in San Miguel — soaps, lotions, perfumes, lip balm, long lasting candles and many other products. A nice option to put together a Christmas gift basket.
La Casa del Diezmo, Jesús 36, 154 40 34
This place is like a little oasis at the city’s heart, it has a lovely garden with a very peaceful atmosphere. The food specializes in Yucatecan typical cuisine, but they also have international dishes for every taste. It is open for breakfast and lunch, from 10am-6pm.
Bazar Arte Viejo, Hidalgo 17, 154-4013
A good place to wander around in hunt of a treasure, this antique shop offers some really fancy glass chandeliers and vintage china. In additon there’s all kind of furniture for different epochs: dressing tables, wardrobes, looking glasses and more. Affordable prices.
La Chula, Umarán 10,
This is a rooftop terrace bar, and one of the trendiest in town. There’s live music and guest DJs usually every weekend and a tapas menu if you feel like having a bite with your drink.
