Todos somos agua
By Annie Coleman
Several years ago, Dr. Masaru Emoto conducted an experiment on the responsiveness of water molecules. He exposed the H2O to external positive and negative stimuli and observed a microscopic difference between the crystal structures formed. The structure of the molecules formed by positive stimuli was aesthetic and harmonic, while the structure of the samples exposed to negative stimuli was chaotic and sometimes formed no crystals at all. Dr. Emoto concluded that water is sensitive to external stimuli and frequencies and is therefore, alive.
Cocktail reception w/Luis Diaz Gordoa
Thu, Dec 6, 7-9pm
This study of water’s nature inspired DF-based artist Luis Diaz Gordoa to create Somos Agua, and exhibition exploring water’s ability to revolutionize consciousness. The human brain is comprised of 90 percent water. Water covers over 70 percent of the earth’s surface. Despite its vital importance, humans waste, misuse and damage our precious resource. While polluted waters are an enormous part of our current environmental crisis, water can also be an essential part of the solution. According to Gordoa, “we can heal through water, through the union of our positive thoughts.”
Gordoa returns to San Miguel de Allende on December 6 to display his work, Somos Agua, in the dining room of The Restaurant. Donnie Masterton and Luis Gordoa invite you to join them for a cocktail reception at The Restaurant. Somos Agua depicts a variety of individual animals as water beings. These “ancestral power animals,” including jaguar, eagle, quetzal, snake and human, are portrayed as flowing figures, running from the vast sea to our consciousness. Each animal possesses a unique quality (eagle’s vision, owl’s wisdom, wolf’s knowledge) that reflects our own human characteristics. This sameness reminds us to embrace our harmony with nature and to show respect for all things.
The artist utilizes mirrors to reinforce the powerful reflection of ourselves in each animal. In this way, the spectator becomes an essential part of the image; the viewer becomes an active participant in the art. Somos Agua reflects the light of every dawn, every moment, every person demonstrating the divinity within our connection and the shared experience of all life on this planet. Gordoa (aka VENA2) encourages us through his work to embrace one another, to respect nature and to consciously conserve our resources because in the end, separateness is just an illusion and in fact, we are all water.
