Glamour and synchronicity

By Gerardo Arteaga

Nicole ‘Nina’ Costa presents her body of work, “Glamour and Synchronicity.” The collection consists of paintings in acrylic on newspaper done in Guanajuato City during the past year. “The glamour in these paintings is not the deceiving clouds of Hollywood we all think of when we hear the word, but rather, the derivative for beauty, and more importantly—synchronicity,” says the artist. Originally from Baltimore in the US, the artist has been living and working in Guanajuato for the last two years. “My pieces are painted over the newspaper, over everything happening around us in the world that in some ways connect us. The paintings show my most recent glamorous and synchronous moments,” she adds. In addition, the body of work has inspired local artist Wendy Catalan of Felpa Felt to contribute larger-than-life felt sculptures that will be featured along with the paintings. Both bodies of work can be found on display at Café Muro this month until November 26.
