Are you ready to quit smoking?
By Joseph Bennett
There is an amazing healing power that occurs when we are surrounded by people who want what is best for us and support us. The camaraderie that is felt when we join together with others to achieve a higher goal is remarkable. For this and many other reasons, a new group hypnosis lecture series is being offered in San Miguel to support people with smoking cessation.

Hypnosis is highly effective for this purpose. In fact there is no other method supported by research that even comes close. This opportunity to create a buddy system, someone else to whom you are accountable, whom you can call for support and with whom you can share your successes, will multiply your chances for success!
Hypnosis saved my life. Seven years ago, I found a business card in a coffee shop in San Diego offering hypnosis sessions to quit smoking. I had tried everything else. A colleague of mine had experienced the process and encouraged me. Two sessions later, I was completely free of nicotine! I was impressed with how beautifully and effortlessly it worked, I decided to train and become certified to help other people. I’ve been successfully “paying it forward” ever since.
Hypnosis has a reputation of being somewhat magical, almost mystical. We’ve seen stage hypnosis acts where people dance on stage, bark like dogs or quack like ducks, and we think that’s what hypnosis is all about. The truth is, there is an empowering and effective aspect of the work that is geared towards health and healing, towards letting go of what no longer serves us.
Without being aware of it, most of us enter a state of hypnosis several times per day: when we first wake up or fall asleep, driving on long road trips, or being fully engrossed in a film or a novel. These are hypnotic states. Psychiatrists theorize that the deep relaxation process in hypnosis actually calms and subdues the conscious mind, so that it takes a less active role in our thinking process. In this state, you’re still aware of what’s going on, but by allowing the conscious mind to take a back seat, you and the hypnotherapist work directly with the subconscious. For these reasons, hypnosis is a powerful tool that works with addictions, fear and anxiety, phobias, improves relaxation, athletic and intellectual performance, and more.
Because I’ve been there, I understand how smokers feel. And I continually witness how powerful the work is, so I continue to believe in it. It is life-changing when we allow ourselves to get out of the way and let the healing begin.
If you feel ready to let go of nicotine forever, I invite you to join this powerful lecture starting November 1. Finally, let yourself be free!
