This month’s benefit event features the fantastic music of Chuy Solapas and Miguel Kegel! Chuy Solapas is a well-known guitarist and singer who especializes in an eclectic fusion of traditional Mexican and rock music. He will perform accompanied by Miguel Kegel, the owner of Flash Fish, local seafood restaurant. Miguel plays the Peruvian box and can really get a crowd going with a great rhythm! If you have seen Chuy and Miguel perform each Friday at Flash Fish, you know what a performance you will get at Casa de la Cuesta!
Our venue, Casa de la Cuesta, is owned by Heidi and Bill Le Vasseur. Sit in the spacious courtyard and enjoy the live music, free drinks, and fresh food, or explore Bill’s collection of authentic Mexican masks in La Otra Cara de Mexico, the world-class mask museum that Bill curates himself!
Casa de los Ángeles was founded in 2000, and provides free daycare located in the heart of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. It is a safe haven for the children of mothers who come from the outskirts of town to work, or to sell their wares at the Mercado. Often these children were left, locked at home alone before the center was established. The Casa de los Ángeles family has evolved into a community center where mothers find the support they need to create a better life for their families. Besides childcare, these families receive medical attention, scholarship opportunities, transitional housing, and a food bank, as we form relationships of mutuality that respect the dignity of each individual.
