By Atención Staff
Adolfo Cervantes, head of Tránsito y Transporte de San Miguel de Allende (Traffic Department), announced the creation of an application for traffic information within the city that is compatible with mobile devices. Cervantes said that with this application locals and visitors can find schedules of urban and suburban buses with regular schedules, public parking lots and Twitter postings with local traffic information such as street closings, detours and direction changes of streets, among other things. This application will allow users to call for roadside assistance or to report an accident since it includes a list of emergency numbers that the user can call directly from his or her smartphone by clicking on the desired number. The application is called SMA Tránsito, and it can be freely downloaded from the iTunes APP Store; it is compatible with iPhone, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPod touch (third and fourth generations) and iPad. Cervantes said that in about two more weeks the application will also be available for Android smartphones. He added that although the current administration is ending, the application will continue to be available for those who wish to use it.
