Little gems to warm your heart
By Dea Randall
Recently, the beloved pets of several of our middle-aged (60 and up now!) friends have passed away, leaving a hole in their lives previously filled by the warmth and companionship of their furry friends. They feel their pets are irreplaceable and that they would be betraying their memory by taking another animal into their homes. Some of our friends live alone and feel the loss more deeply. When the time is right, we have just the answer to fill them with smiles and pleasure again. Beautiful, adoptable kittens!
Brandy has a funny little tortoise face, reminiscent of a monkey’s. Her lovely coat, mostly rust-colored but with black and grey markings, is soft and pettable. About eight weeks old, Brandy loves to cuddle and would bring contentment and comfort to the loneliest heart.
Roxy is a miniature tortoise kitten, about 2-1/2 months old, but much smaller and daintier than you’d expect. Although quiet and shy around strangers, she turns her purring motor on when held against you. She loves to play with “wand” toys and would fill a home with happiness.
Samuel, a beautiful, shiny black boy with white feet and chest, is the epitome of fun. He jumps and climbs up your legs to get to your lap, then wriggles with delight at being held. He wriggled himself off my lap today at the SPA and crashed on his back (thank goodness for heavy blankets and the wonderful people that donate them!), and was up and begging to be held and petted again immediately. Sammy would brighten your day, your night, your every moment, and probably insist on sleeping with you besides.
Dior is a lovely part-Siamese girl, around four months old. She is creamy and sleek, with a beauty mark on the middle of her forehead, and very much enjoys being cuddled. She loves to sit beside you if not in your lap and would be a wonderful reading or TV-watching companion.
We have a bounty of kittens this year and we’re “full up.” Taking home one of these precious babies would enrich your lives and also make room at the SPA for other cats and kittens in need. Meet them and others, Monday-Saturday, 11am-2pm, Los Pinos 7, phone 152-6124.
