The “Chichimeca Route” Cyclists arrive in San Miguel
Cyclists from all over Mexico will arrive in San Miguel August 12, as a section of the “Chichimeca Route 2012” journey. They are spreading a message of peace and tolerance and promoting the use of the bicycle as a non-contaminant transport medium. This route began past July 7 at Ensenada, Baja California and will go though the country to end on September 9 at Ciudad Hidalgo, Chiapas.
The invitation to join it’s open to everyone. The “Chichimeca Route” was formed to unite the south with the north, travel through the country and know its natural, cultural and historical richness. Its main goal it is to promote eco-tourism, the bicycle culture and support the World Heritage statement given to the “Camino Real de Tierra Adentro”, the construction and inclusion of paths for bicycles across Mexico, encouraging this ecological transport medium. Local cyclist club, “Ciclismo Real San Miguel” will receive the route’s relay; the meeting point will be Mineral de Pozos, and from there come to San Miguel. They will visit the Indian chapels to promote these sceneries as cyclist routes.
Monday, August 13 at 9am, Will be the departure to Mineral de Pozos; at noon will be official start of the route; at 5pm the arrival of the “Chichimeca Route”, then through the circuit formed by the streets of Calzada de la Aurora, Hidalgo, Insurgentes, Pepe Llanos, Juárez, San Francisco and Jardín Principal.
The cyclists would like to thank the support of Rosario Licea, Manuel Licea, Ricardo Trejo (president of club “Real de San Miguel”) and mayor Luz María Nuñez, who made this sections of the route happen.
