Age Discrimination in Cats
At the SPA, we find that many of our older and teenage cats are often overlooked in favor of kittens. Folks come in hoping to adopt, but if no kittens are available, they tend to leave empty-handed. What many people do not appreciate is the charm and personality that come with a more mature cat.
We have approximately nine beautiful teenagers (less than a year old) of all shapes, sizes, colors and personalities who are still waiting for their “forever homes.” There’s Jake, a two-toned orange and white energetic ball of fun. One minute, he’s deeply sleeping in his tunnel; the next minute, he’s in your lap purring, and, immediately after that, he jumps on one of his buddies for a little fun. Tessa, a lovely black and white long-haired sweetie, loves nothing more than to lie on your lap for brushing. Luna, a little black long-haired beauty with yellow eyes, loves to sleep next to whoever will pet her the most. These little guys and their teenage buddies Sassy, Mango, Audrey, Maggie, Lilly and Pride would brighten any home and keep you amused and enchanted for hours.
We also have several older cats, many of whom are beloved family pets that have been given to the SPA because their owners can no longer care for them due to illness or another unfortunate situation. Now 11, Billy is a fat black cat who is everyone’s darling. Four-year-old Negrita, a lovely black-haired girl with green eyes, was dropped off with six-year-old Pepito, a grey/brown tabby. Pretty Rose is a wonderful, sweet, affectionate four-year-old. Other than Billy, these older cats are frightened of the other cats and spend most of their time hiding from them. Billy tends to snooze a lot. Although initially afraid of strangers, they would all adapt to a loving home and become the perfect companion for anyone, but especially for those of us who are less active.
Please come into the SPA to meet our cats of all ages.
