Where Are Our Rights Going?
By Cliff DuRand
Corporations are persons and granted unlimited free speech while the speech of real persons is being drowned out in the mass media and protesters are removed from public spaces. Free speech is not free when big money dominants political campaigns and well-paid lobbyists swarm through the halls of Congress. Meanwhile the US military is given the power to detain indefinitely without trail anyone (even a citizen) suspected of terrorism or association with terrorism. This at a time when some are calling peaceful, nonviolent protesters “terrorists.” Where are our rights going?
