A Perfect Day

An early spring

By Antonio De Jesús Aguado

Although we are having a hard winter time, there are some places in the city that are keeping their wide variety of flowers and plants, such as Parque Juárez, sheltering La Candelaria Fair, Instituto Allende with its classes, students and its huge garden, and Villa Santa Mónica with its peacocks.

Antigua Villa Santa Mónica, Fray José Guadalupe Mojica 22 Centro.

There is nothing better than starting our day enjoying a delicious breakfast, Tuesday through Sunday from 8:30-12pm, surrounded by large trees, a multitude of plants, flowers, a stream crossing the hotel grounds and even peacocks strolling through the garden. Sunday brunch is a special occasion here, because you can ask quesadillas made with fresh handmade tortillas, omelets with different stews and even barbecue ribs. This hotel restaurant is just opposite to Parque Juárez.

Parque Juárez, Diezmo Viejo y Aldama, Centro

It is a French style park. Since 1956 it has sheltered the Candelaria Fair. During this celebration, thousands of flowers and plants are offered for sale within the park. The exhibitors are from different Mexican states as well as locals. In addition many activities are held every day and works of art are decorating the most important places in this place, a short river crosses the park that visitor can admire above the bridge.

Instituto Allende Ancha de San Antonio 22 Centro.

The biggest door in the city is the entrance gate to el Instituto Allende, an antique house that belonged to De la Canal family, one of the richest families in town in the 18th century. Nowadays it is an art and languages school. It has a big garden where visitors can stroll and rest for a moment, as well as admire the art works in the area, even a happy monkey hanging from a tree.

The order of the places is just a suggestion, schedule your own tour.

Lunch at Villa Santa Mónica is from 12:30 through 5pm

These are places for the entire family.

La Candelaria Fair will end on February 6, check the complete program in the calendar of Festivals and Events.
