Each year the Botanical Garden, El Charco del Ingenio, has an event to raise funds for the operation, maintenance and development of this natural area, which is a popular tourist destination and environmental educational space for our community.
Fiesta: Fusión a la Mexicana, To benefit el Charco del Ingenio. Sat, Feb 11, 12-3pm. El Charco del Ingenio. 500 pesos, 400 pesos members. Tickets @ the Garden’s reception, Hotel Posada Corazón, Camino Silverstre & TicketCentro @ La Biblioteca
In 2012 the title is Fusión a la Mexicana and is dedicated to the appreciation of Mexican textiles, the designs and techniques used in making clothes for daily use. The show and sale of clothes, accessories and art objects using original designs based on ancient embroidery techniques – for the most part indigenous – will come from various parts of Mexico.
During the fashion show we will see and learn about not only new clothing designs but also various community projects from different parts of the country. The projects involved are: Mezcalínea, Fábrica Social, María Luisa, Puras Chuladas, Amanoarte, Cítrico, Cooperativa Parákata, Kuachikkilli, Ichcame, Ethnika and Mariposas San Miguel.
There will be a raffle with lots of wonderful surprises, drinks and delicious appetizers made by the great Patsy Dubois, all accompanied by live music.
Tickets are on sale at the Garden’s Reception, Posada Corazón (Aldama 9), Camino Silvestre (Zacateros 46) and TicketCentro in the Biblioteca Pública (Insurgentes 25).
