Candelaria con Danzón
By Leonardo Rosen
November 2011 was a busy month for the Club de Danzón “Mercerina” with four events. We scored big successes in a national event in Querétaro and with our “Primera Convivencia Regional del Danzón en San Miguel de Allende”. After that, we found ourselves with a two-month rest. Now, we are back!
Dance: Danzón at La Feria de la Candelaria. Sun, Jan 29 & Sun, Feb 5, 1-3pm & 5-7pm, Parque Juárez, Free
Once again, the city’s Department of Ecology and Environment has asked us to participate in the famous Feria de la Candelaria in the Parque Juárez with our “El Danzón y Otros Ritmos Bailables con el Club de Danzón Mercerina”. We especially thank Helio Bastien, Director, Juan Méndez, and Eric Morales of that agency. It is an honor and a pleasure for us.
There is still not the budget for live music. However, we present as always the very best of recorded music with all your favorite rhythms: danzón, mambo, chachachá, bolero, son cubano, salsa, cumbia, merengue, bachata, tango, rock & roll, etc. As well as social dancing, we present exhibitions of distinguished dance instructors and groups. We emphasize that for three and a half years, you, our dear public, have been the real stars of this show. With your support, we have been able to continue. Muchas gracias!
Please join us in the Parque Juárez .We are there in support of the Feria de la Candelaria. Please enjoy all the beautiful plants and flowers, and take some home with you. For more information, please call Ecología at 152-9600 or me at 154-5840. We look forward to giving you the traditional danzón greeting, “¡Hey, familia……..!” because you are our family.
